City of Münster yes, Münsterland no
One land registry for the city, not for the surrounding area
The Amtsgericht Münster puts it briefly and clearly: its area of responsibility covers the independent city of Münster. Whether the plot is in Hiltrup, Gievenbeck or Wolbeck, the land register is kept at Gerichtsstraße.
More about Münster (3)Show less
The Landgericht district of Münster is much larger and extends into the districts of Borken, Coesfeld, Steinfurt and Warendorf. Of its 15 Amtsgerichte, only the Amtsgericht Münster keeps the city's land register. According to the Landgericht, Telgte belongs to the Amtsgericht Warendorf, Greven to the Amtsgericht Steinfurt and Dülmen to the Amtsgericht Dülmen. The higher court is the Oberlandesgericht Hamm.
The land registry's page carries a clear warning: private online providers often charge a processing fee far above the official fee of 10 euros for the retrieval. Some had no licence for automated retrieval, and despite payment no printout was issued.
Behördenfix is also a private provider, but retrieves nothing automatically. We submit the written application to the land registry with your power of attorney, state the fee of 10 or 20 euros openly and include it in the 49 euros. We do not do entries or deletions; those usually require a notary.
Questions about the land register in Münster
Which Amtsgericht is responsible for the land register in Münster?
The Amtsgericht Münster, Gerichtsstraße 2, 48149 Münster, phone 0251 494-0. Its district is exactly the independent city of Münster with all its districts. This does not apply to places in the Münsterland: Telgte belongs to the Amtsgericht Warendorf, Greven to the Amtsgericht Steinfurt, although both are in the Landgericht district of Münster.
What does a land register extract cost in Münster?
Under the Gerichts- und Notarkostengesetz, the Amtsgericht states 10 euros for a printout and 20 euros for an official printout; the invoice is sent by the Zentrale Zahlstelle Justiz. A notary charges 18 euros plus VAT. Behördenfix charges 49 euros, the court fee is included.
Who may get a land register extract from the Amtsgericht Münster?
Inspection is granted with a legitimate interest. According to the Amtsgericht, anyone with a right in the land register generally has one, such as ownership, a land charge, mortgage, right of way or right of residence. Anyone without one needs, for example, the owner's power of attorney. The land registry decides whether the interest is sufficient. Plot boundaries are not in the land register; according to the court the cadastral offices keep them, in Münster the city's.
Can I collect the land register extract in Münster in person?
Yes, you can apply for the printout in person at the land registry; bring your ID card and, if necessary, a power of attorney. You can book an inspection appointment online via the Amtsgericht's homepage. In writing or by fax no appointment is needed; the invoice then comes separately from the Zentrale Zahlstelle Justiz.
Why does the Amtsgericht Münster warn against online providers?
Because some websites offer the retrieval for a charge well above the official fee of 10 euros. Some providers had no official licence for automated retrieval, and customers received no printout despite paying. Behördenfix submits a written application to the land registry and states the fee openly.
