Good to know
- Only those who show a legitimate interest may inspect the register (§ 12 GBO); owners always have it.
- A simple extract costs €10, a certified one €20.
- Land registries only accept applications by post or fax. The power of attorney must be an original; you send it to us by post.

Simple or certified – which do I need?
The organisation asking for the extract will tell you. Banks are often satisfied with the simple extract.
What details about the property do I need?
The address is usually enough. It is faster with the register sheet or parcel number.
Can I get an extract for someone else's property?
Only with a legitimate interest. Curiosity is not enough.
Do I have to go to the authority myself for "Land register extract"?
No. With your power of attorney we file the application with the responsible office (Grundbuchamt (Amtsgericht) des Grundstücks).
How long does it take?
Usually 5 to 21 days, depending on the authority.
