Applying yourself at the Ordnungsamt Berlin

The way without us, step by step

The replacement is issued by the Ordnungsamt of the district where your business seat is, e.g. the Ordnungsamt Mitte at Karl-Marx-Allee 31 or Neukölln at Juliusstraße 67. For a Reisegewerbekarte (itinerant trade card), by contrast, the Ordnungsamt at your residence is responsible. A trade registered in Berlin is required.

A fee per page instead of a fixed amount

For the replacement Berlin names no fixed amount but a range: 4.50 to 21 euros per page started. The basis is the state's administrative fee regulation. So the amount depends on the length of the certificate. For comparison: a new trade registration costs 26 euros per single trade in person, 15 euros online.

In Berlin there is a replacement not only for the trade registration. The Ordnungsamt also replaces lost deregistration and change confirmations, permits or licences and the Reisegewerbekarte. The page names no online service for this; the application goes in text form to the Ordnungsamt, and the state expects about one week.

Not orally: the state says explicitly that oral applications are not allowed. The application is informal in text form, ideally with the sample application provided, with name and home and business address. How long does the replacement take in Berlin?

What is the Gewerbeschein anyway?

Colloquially, the confirmation of your trade notification. Under § 15 paragraph 1 of the Gewerbeordnung, the authority confirms receipt of the notification within three days. It is not a permit; trades requiring a permit have their own certificates, which the Berlin Ordnungsamt also replaces.

Do I need extra documents as a non-EU citizen?

Yes. Besides the ID card or another official photo ID, the state requires the residence permit if the applicant is not a citizen of an EU country. In Berlin this applies to the replacement as well as to the trade registration itself. With us you upload both copies in the order.
