Apply yourself at the Gewerbeamt München
The way without us, step by step
You apply for the copy at the City of Munich's Gewerbeamt if you have lost the registration, change or deregistration notice of your business or need a current confirmation. The Gewerbeamt recommends the online application because it speeds up processing.
- Online: start the application, log in with BayernID or an ELSTER business account (the eID function is not needed), add the data. Copy and invoice come by post.
- In person by appointment at the Gewerbeamt, Implerstraße 11, 81371 München. Office hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 7:30 to 12 hrs, Tuesday 8:30 to 12 and 14 to 18 hrs, Thursday 8:30 to 15 hrs.

- Costs compared: the Gewerbeamt charges 15 to 20 euros. With us the copy costs 49.90 euros including this fee. We are not an authority, and the Gewerbeamt does not process our application faster.

Changed something? Then no copy but a change notice
After changes there is no copy
The Munich Gewerbeamt draws a clear line: if since the last notice you have moved the seat within Munich, extended or changed the activity or changed the name, there is no copy any more. Then a change notice (Gewerbeummeldung) is needed, which the city also offers online. Voluntary changes such as a new managing director or switching from secondary to main occupation go via the online application.
More about Munich (2)Show less
Nobody has to go to the office in person for the copy. Representation is explicitly possible; an informal power of attorney with the IDs of principal and authorised person is enough, and the online application asks for the proof separately. In partnerships every partner entitled to manage may apply alone, in a GmbH or AG the legal representatives.
One exception is the Reisegewerbekarte (itinerant trade card): for its copy you always book an appointment in person and bring ID or passport, if applicable a police loss report. The fee for the copy of the trade notice is in the range of 15 to 20 euros.
Questions about a lost Gewerbeschein in Munich
What does a replacement Gewerbeschein cost in Munich?
The Gewerbeamt München states a fee range of 15 to 20 euros. With an online application the invoice comes by post together with the copy; at the office you pay in cash, by Girocard or credit card. At Behördenfix the copy costs 49.90 euros, the Gewerbeamt's fee included.
Do I have to apply for the copy in Munich in person?
No. Easiest is the online application with BayernID or an ELSTER business account; you do not need the ID card's eID function. In person only by appointment. Representation is possible: an informal power of attorney with the IDs of principal and authorised person is enough for the Gewerbeamt.
How long does the copy take?
The Gewerbeamt München gives no fixed processing time. It only writes that the online application speeds up processing. Copy and invoice then come by post to the given address. The office's processing time applies to our order too; we are not faster than your own online application.
What do I do if something in my business has changed?
Then there is no copy. Anyone who has moved the seat within Munich, extended or changed the activity or changed the name needs a change notice (Gewerbeummeldung). The city offers its own online service for this. Voluntary changes such as a new managing director go via the Gewerbeamt's online application.
