The way without us, step by step

The GewerbeCenter of the city of Wuppertal, department 302.32, in Barmen town hall, Johannes-Rau-Platz 1, 42275 Wuppertal, is responsible. The city names two ways for the replacement:

  • Go to the GewerbeCenter in person and present the relevant documents.
  • Apply in writing and enclose the documents. According to the city, most trade services need no visit and can be done by post or e-mail; the exception is the application to the Gewerbezentralregister.
  • If someone else sends the application or goes in your place, that person needs a written power of attorney.
  • Costs compared: the city charges 15 euros for the replacement. With us 49.90 euros including this fee. We are not an authority and do not register or change a business; we only apply for the replacement.

On its page about appointments for trade matters, the city of Wuppertal writes that most services require no personal visit and can be done in writing by post or e-mail. Only the application to the Gewerbezentralregister is excluded. For the replacement the city names both ways, in person and in writing.

The replacement is not the same as trade information. Extended trade information from the local trade register costs 25 euros in Wuppertal and is only given if someone credibly shows a legal interest, e.g. a lawyer. The basic data of a registered business, i.e. name, business address and activity, the city makes generally accessible.
