The way without us, step by step
The certificate is issued by the office that handled your trade notification, i.e. the trade office for the registration district of your business. The Hamburg pages do not name it, but list it as «zuständige Stelle» (responsible office) in Hamburg Service.
- In person on site: you request the further copy directly and pay there.
- In writing: informally, with a copy of your ID, to the responsible office. You then receive a fee notice for 15 euros.
- With power of attorney: according to the city, trade notifications may also be handled by a person authorised in writing by the owner who shows ID; this is how we apply too.
- Online: the service «Gewerbeanzeige» in Hamburg Service is meant for registrations, changes and deregistrations; the pages name no separate online route for the replacement copy.

Hamburg has no page just for the replacement copy. The fee is on the trade registration page: costs for a replacement copy of the trade registration amount to 15 euros. The deregistration page adds that the first deregistration certificate costs nothing and each further copy 15 euros.

How you get the further copy is described on the deregistration page: in person on site or in writing with a copy of your ID. A written request brings a fee notice. The fees are based on the Gebührenordnung für die Wirtschaftsverwaltung Hamburg (fee schedule for business administration).
According to the city, the first confirmation of a registration usually comes within two weeks if documents are complete. For the replacement copy the city gives no time of its own, and in its words processing time varies with the current situation. The Gewerbeordnung only requires the authority to confirm receipt of a notification within three days.
According to the city, the responsible office passes every trade notification on to other bodies, e.g. the tax office, the Berufsgenossenschaft, the chamber of crafts or the chamber of industry and commerce and, where relevant, the register court. A replacement copy changes nothing in these notices, it only replaces your paper.
