Good to know

  • A duplicate is a further copy of your registration, not a new registration.
  • The business owner signs the application personally. For partnerships and companies, all partners or the managing directors sign, depending on the legal form.
  • Many trade offices do not accept the application by email. In Cologne it goes by post or fax and costs €15.

Do I have to register my business again?

No. The duplicate is a further copy of your existing registration.

Is there also a duplicate of a deregistration?

Yes. A duplicate is available for every business notification, including changes and deregistrations.

Why do I have to sign myself?

The trade office requires the applicant's signature. We send you the finished application to sign.

Do I have to go to the authority myself for "Duplicate business registration"?

No. With your power of attorney we file the application with the responsible office (Gewerbeamt (Gewerbemeldestelle) der Gemeinde, bei der das Gewerbe gemeldet ist).

How long does it take?

Usually 7 to 21 days, depending on the authority.
