- Online with the ordering assistant, around the clock: select the parcel by address, then scale, format, colour and delivery. The fee and a map preview appear at once. After purchase an e-mail with a reference number arrives; you see the status at wuppertal.de/kartendownload.
- At the city's Geodatenzentrum: order informally by e-mail or post, or buy in person on site. According to the catalogue quote, it takes approx. one week there.
- Costs compared: online 15 euros as PDF, 20 or 25 euros as a printout; at the Geodatenzentrum up to DIN A3 30 euros, as PDF 15 euros. With us 54.90 euros including the fee. We are neither an authority nor a surveying office; the map itself is the same.

Building application in Wuppertal: don't choose too small a format
For building law applications, the extract must show the building plot and the neighbouring plots within 50 metres. From this the city derives at least DIN A3 at scale 1:500 and warns that the format list in the assistant currently only allows for a buffer under 50 metres.

Its advice: if in doubt, choose the larger format, i.e. DIN A3 instead of DIN A4, preferably at scale 1:500. A building application usually also needs an overview map, the official base map at scale 1:5000 in DIN A4, available at the Geodatenzentrum. Which documents are needed is explained by the city's Bürgerberatung BAUEN.
In the evening and at weekends the download may be delayed because the ALKIS cadastre is updated then. A free test map via a voucher code is for demonstration only and is not an official extract.
