This is what the city's service page says, as of 26 October 2026. For the Nord and West registry offices the city states no longer time. The city does not say which of the three offices keeps your entry.
The Standesamt Duisburg only issues certificates for births registered in Duisburg. A birth abroad can be registered here retroactively since 2009; for older retroactive registrations the Standesamt I in Berlin is responsible.
If the birth was more than 110 years ago, the Stadtarchiv Duisburg holds the register. It charges 10 euros for the certified copy. If the details are unclear, 15 euros per started half hour of research are added, 35 euros for commercial users, even if nothing is found.
