30-year register and an exact place of death

After 30 years: the city archive

The Standesamt Bochum only holds deaths of the last 30 years. It keeps births for 110 years and marriages for 80 years, so the death register has the shortest limit. Older deaths, registered in Bochum since 1 October 1874, are issued by the city archive.

The city expressly asks for the exact place of death and gives hospital, care home or district as examples. If details to find the entry are missing, the search costs 20 to 80 euros extra depending on effort.

If several copies are ordered in one application and produced in one go, each further one costs half, that is 7 euros. A later single order costs 14 euros again.
