More about Hamburg (2)

Without a pre-check little works by appointment: right after booking, the office expects an e-mail with name, phone, appointment, destination country and a scan of the documents. If the check is not possible by the appointment, the documents are only accepted and collected later. Nobody needs a power of attorney, as the apostille is issued for the document, not the person.

Reports from state-recognised Hamburg schools are certified directly by the Amt für Migration; the page asks for no prior step at the school authority. Translations are only accepted if the translator was sworn in Hamburg; the translator stamp costs 5 euros. For federal documents such as the certificate of conduct the Bundesamt für Auswärtige Angelegenheiten is responsible.
