Good to know

  • The deadline is two weeks from moving in (§ 17 (1) BMG).
  • We checked the ten largest cities: none accepts the registration by post. The options are an appointment in person or online registration with your own electronic ID.
  • That is why we do not offer this service at the moment.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the landlord's confirmation?

Yes. Your landlord or the property management must confirm your move in writing (§ 19 BMG).

Can I register my new address online?

In many cities, yes – with the electronic ID (eID) function of your identity card.

Why doesn't Behördenfix offer this?

Because the cities do not accept registration by a third party by post. We only offer what we can reliably complete.

Do I have to go to the authority myself for "Address registration"?

No. With your power of attorney we file the application with the responsible office (Meldebehörde der neuen Wohnung).

How long does it take?

Usually 7 to 21 days, depending on the authority.

Is the official fee included in the price?

The authority charges no fee for this service. You only pay our fixed price.
